SHE'S ONE OF US - CHAPTER 33

                                                      

                                                 




Synopsis :

Akhila and Anbu were successfully married. Shree was moved by the affection of Anbu and understood that Anbu is a a great pair for Akhila. She felt their family is so lucky  to have Anbu. 

I won't get a single penny from you

After few months, Sai said Shree that,  his father and brother visiting them from abroad. Sai said Shree "My dad said that he want to do our marriage while coming this year. Can you talk to your parents about this?". Shree said "Okay, will talk to them and let you know". That evening, when everyone was around , Shree said "Mom and Dad, I need to talk about Sai". Dad said "Tell me". She said everything that Sai told her. Akhila interfered "Shree! Don't be in a hurry. In couple of months , Anbu and me will go to US. If you wait for 2 years, We can do your marriage in a grand manner". Shree said "I don't want my marriage to be a grand one. Moreover , I won't get a single penny from you. I will take care of my marriage expenses. Sorry for saying this". Akhila said "Okay fine that you don't want money, But , If the marriage happens in Sai's father and brother's presence , Is it okay if it happens in  my absence?. Moreover , We can't postpone US opportunity as we  were waiting for this quite a long time". Shree was totally confused. Mom said "Without Akhila and Anbu , It is impossible. Convey this to Sai and ask him to wait". Shree went back to Sai and said about their conversations. Sai said "I know Akhila is very important to attend the marriage, But if my brother and father comes this year , They will come only after 4 years". Shree said " If marriage wants to happen somebody should adjust. Why not your brother and father come after 2 years , we could wait till they come , Please". Sai was not ready to accept what Shree said. They started to argue. Shree was totally upset that Sai don't understand how important Akhila's presence in her marriage.

Make her mouth shut. Got it ??

Shree was totally upset. Akhila noticed Shree and asked about that. Shree said everything  to Akhila, that Sai said. Akhila spoke with Anbu and they concluded that Shree's engagement should be done before they go to US. Akhila said to her parents "It is okay that I can't attend her marriage , But my heart will be always with you". Shree herself don't like Akhila's decision and that turned to a great anger on Sai. Shree said "I really don't know what to say, I am so confused". Akhila consoled her "Don't worry Shree , We can't change anything what is going to happen. Better accept it. Be happy and don't worry". Still Shree was confused and totally unhappy. She started fighting with Sai about this all time. Finally  after lot of confusions , Engagement day been fixed. Sai said "Shree , If my mother talks about dowry , Just ignore it please". Shree was furious ad said " You know about my mom very well, She agreed for the marriage with half mind. If your mother asks about dowry , Definitely my mom would  yell at you all and stop the marriage. If you don't want that to happen , Talk to your mom , Understand. Make her mouth shut, Got it?". Sai was furious but didn't show his anger. Shree said "It is up to you to decide. Talk to your mom and ask her to keep quiet". Sai said "Around 15 people will be coming to attend the engagement function. I need you to arrange for morning breakfast for them". Shree said "It is not going to arranged by me, It is going to be arranged by us. Sai , I am so wondered that you are talking like this, Do remember , It is a love marriage and we have to do everything and you can't just order what need to done". Though Sai was furious about the way Shree spoke , He kept mum. The Engagement day arrived. Sai's mother came inside the room and saw Shree sitting inside. She came near her and spoke something. Sai's mother asked "Now tell me how much you earn". Shree paused for a minute and said "Did you have your breakfast? It is already late. Please go and have it". Sai's mom looked at her for a minute and stood. She gave a fake smile and left the room.

Try to understand her feelings too

Engagement function was over. Marriage date been fixed exactly 3 months from the engagement date. Akhila and Anbu started to US. Mean while , Sai and Shree started fighting  for each and everything about their marriage. Marriage cards , Return gifts, Marriage hall, the place, marriage costumes everything was a great problem and there was a hell a lot of arguments. Sai tested Shree's patience to the core. Shree's mom strictly ordered  that she won't attend the marriage if it happens in Sai's town. But , Sai was unhappy about this as he wanted to do his marriage in his town. The fight started . Shree said "Try to understand her feelings too. She is totally orthodox. It is a great miracle that she accepted for the marriage. We can do the marriage in the near by town". Sai yelled at Shree for saying these. Finally they had no option , Sai decided to see a marriage hall in the near by town where he had lot of friends. Sai's family hated this decision to the core.  He seek help from his friends for his marriage work. Mean while , Shree had great friends at her work. Around 15 of her friends booked tickets in train for her marriage and they too were eagerly waiting to travel. Sai booked tickets for Shree's relatives and family friends. Shree's best and the dearest friend Priya and her mom too decided to accompany them. Only six tickets been confirmed and rest all the 15 tickets for Shree's relatives were not confirmed. Shree and her family decided to go to the town a day before the marriage. The same day , her colleagues also started. 

                                                

It is really soothing!

As the fifteen tickets were not confirmed , Shree's relatives started yelling at Shree for not booking the tickets properly. She was totally upset and start praying to god. Some miracle happened and TTR allowed them to travel. Shree , Priya and her mom , dad everyone gave their seats to others to make them comfortable. Shree had tears in her eyes and sat down. She said Priya "See , I am the bride and see how I am travelling in the train. Nothing in my life even the travel doesn't happen smooth in my life. The tickets were not confirmed, and I am feeling as if I am sitting on hot coal. Though I am waiting for this marriage for a long time. I am not happy about this right now". Priya wiped her tears and said "Don't worry dear , everything will be fine. No worries, I will be always there for you" and hugged Shree from her side.  Everybody reached the place. In , Marriage hall , there were no one. Shree's relatives were already upset about the tickets. Now they start asking for coffee. Shree was not ready to make them upset about that. She and Priya ran to the kitchen. They saw the glasses were dirty and lying in the washing place. Both cleaned the glasses. Priya's mom  made coffee for everyone. Shree took a big plate and arranged the coffee glasses and served everyone. By the time , her colleagues arrived to the hall. They were shocked seeing Shree serving everyone. Three of the boys said "Shree , I have never seen a bride who is serving for her marriage like this. Please you tell us what to do , we'll help". Shree took a deep breath and said "Oh my god , Someone is there to ask me what is wrong and willing to come forward to help me. It is really soothing. Thanks for asking. I have arranged a friend's place for you all to stay". She showed the friend and asked him to take them to his place. She said "Take rest ,  and you all come in the evening to attend the reception". The friends said "We'll come early to help you". Shree smiled. 

It was her smile !

Priya was working in the marriage hall and also got scoldings and insults  from Sai's relatives for some silly things. Shree felt terrible and was furious. Priya controlled Shree that marriage is more important  than her insults. She also said that "You are my friend , and I am so happy to face insults for your happiness". Shree's heart became heavy and hugged her tightly. Shree said  whimpering "I am so sorry. How can I be happy for your insults. I don't want to get married if marriage gives this much unhappiness". Priya said "Silly girl! Happiness comes after Unhappiness. Be patient". Tears continuously poured from her eyes. Priya kept on wiping it. Priya said "Stop crying Shree! Bride should not cry like this". She fixed her eyes on Priya and said "You are not only my best friend , you are my soul mate. I want to be in your life forever. Even if you forget me in your life. I will come behind you and will be always in your life". Priya smiled and said "How can I forget you Shree? That's impossible". Shree smiled. Priya's mom heard everything with tears. She blessed both of them in her heart.  The reception was over. Shree looked beautiful in her costumes. But , the most important thing was missing and It was her smile.  

Action speaks more than words !

That night , there were hell a lot of work to be done. So, Shree, her dad and friends didn't sleep. They were arranging things and return gifts. Shree saw around and there were no body from Sai's side to help. She was upset and furious. They all slept after they had their dinner.  Shree was totally unhappy and called Sai who went outside with his friend for some marriage work. Shree said "We are all working here for  the marriage. No body from your family is least bothered . Really can't understand what is happening". Sai was furious and couldn't tolerate that Shree blaming his relatives. He started yelling at her. Shree said "Stop yelling at me. At least you should tell them to do something. I have never seen people going to sleep this early before the wedding day". Sai lost his patience and yelled very badly. Shree too lost his patience and said "Better we can stop here. From the first  when we talked about marriage , It didn't go well. I can feel the love disappearing little by little. Don't worry that we arranged for the marriage with lot of efforts and struggles. I am not afraid to stop the marriage even now. The marriage didn't happen yet , I am not happy even for a second. So , I am thinking if the marriage happens, I am afraid that I will be in hell.  I am least bothered to stop the marriage". Sai felt terrible and disconnected the phone.   After few minutes Sai called Shree and said "Sorry , I love you". But even , Shree was not convinced and said "Don't tell in words, Action speaks more than words" and disconnected the phone. 


The knot, The climax

The next day , everybody got ready for the marriage. Shree was dressed in a red silk saree and looked like an angel. Sai wore silk dhoti. They both looked awesome in their traditional dress. Shree was not smiling and didn't even look at Sai. Her heart was heavy and tears were just playing hide and seek behind her eyes. She saw all the relatives and friends. She sat in the stage without any consciousness. She missed Akhila so much. Akhila called Shree in phone. Shree couldn't talk and something blocked her throat. With all vedic chants, Sai tied three knots around Shree's neck. Shree closed her eyes and tears rolled down. The most awaited important happiest moment turned to be a great night mare for her. Shree and Sai started to go to their town with Sai's relatives. Shree's family said we are not able to join you and we have train tonight to go to Chennai. Shree's mom had tears in her eyes. Shree said with full confidence "No body need to cry , I am coming back to Chennai in a week". Shree was left all alone. Her friend Priya accompanied her to the town and returned back to the marriage hall. She was totally left alone and she couldn't leave Priya's hands when she bade bye to her. Whatever going to happen , Shree made up her mind and was ready to face it.
